Adventure Tours

Adventure tours
are a thriving business all over the world, because the demand to have some fun and do something different is huge. The reason for this is that each adventure tour is a brilliant experience for people of various skill levels and ages. There are adventure tours from glass bottom reef searches to caving and quad motorbike rides.  Adventure tours basically compromise of en experienced guide who helps to show individuals the activity in a safe and enjoyable way. There are a few things which should be checked off before you go on an adventure tour, and these are listed below:

•    Find a reputable company. This means a company that has been running for a relatively long time, has a good safety record, and has good reviews. You may pay a bit more for a reputable adventure tour company, but I guarantee it’s worth the extra coin.

•    Make sure you are aware of all of the conditions of an adventure tour. Most adventure tours will have forms to be filled in at the beginning basically saying that to go on the adventure tour you must accept the risk and that the tour company doesn’t take responsibility of any accidents. The main reason for this is so that the adventure tour company isn’t liable for any accidents which occur, regardless of whose fault it was. This shouldn’t scare you off though; because if the company has a good reputation and safety record then there is minimal risk.

•    Be aware of what is provided on the adventure tour; some will provide drinks, some will provide lunch and others will provide full catering. Be aware of what you need to bring; some tours will give you a discount if you bring your own gear. Also, often if you own equipment it will be better than the gear offered. I know this is especially the case with wetsuits – most of the ones you hire have holes in them from overuse and don’t keep you very warm. This is a small option which is often overlooked and has the potential to ruin your day out. On fishing adventure tours, you are most likely allowed to take the catch home, so bring something that enables you to take it home comfortably; having to walk down the street with a 15 kilogram Mulloway is probably going to ruin your adventure tour. Some good adventure tours exist in Margaret River, doing Climbing Sports.

•    Consider the costs of the adventure tour based on the time you are provided. Usually a half day is more expensive than a full day adventure tour (comparing cost per hour). Do you need to go for a full day? I know when I went on a Jet Ski adventure tour, I wanted to hire it for an hour, but in the end we only got it for half an hour. This meant 15 minutes each, but by the end if it we were absolutely dead tired. Getting the ski for an hour would have been a complete waste of money and would have decreased our enjoyment from the adventure tour, so weigh up your options.

•    Understand the restrictions that apply to adventure tours; if you want to drive a jet skii, you usually need to be over 16 years old, or have a parent or guardian with you. There may also be height restrictions etc which could stop you from going on the adventure.

Adventure tours are a great way to get an overview of a particular sport or activity. Sure, they may be a bit pricey, but most of them are worth it and help you to have a great day. Make sure you do some research on what you want to do; don’t rush in and buy tickets to the first adventure tour you see.
