Bowling Alley

A Bowling Alley is a place of entertainment where people of all ages and sexes can go to enjoy a game of Ten Pin Bowling. This is a sport which requires considerable amount of skill to do it professionally, but one that can be played for a little amount of money. It provides immense fun for kids and adults, both males and females. For little children, the laneways can be set up to have barriers running down the sides of them. This means that if the bowling ball goes off the laneway, instead of going into the gutter, it bounces back on course. This is especially helpful for younger bowlers, as it is quite difficult to constantly bowl straight as a small person.

A Bowling Ball is relatively heavy, and solid. It is used with 3 fingers, and thrown down a long wooden laneway. At the other end there are 10 pins, which are designed to be hit down. These will often knock each other down if you hit them right. The formation of the 10 pins is in a triangle, so hitting it slightly to the left of centre or right of center often results in a strike. A strike is when you knock down all 10 pins on the first go. You get two goes, but only one if you strike the first time. The second time, if you knock down all of the pins remaining, then you get what is known as a spare. This helps to count towards your score considerably.

A Bowling Alley will usually provide bowling shoes (you often cannot bowl without these). These are simply flat footed shoes, which look almost like clown shoes and are designed specifically for bowling. You can get a pair which will fit you, and then off you go. Often they will charge per lane, or they may charge per person. Discounts usually apply for those who go in big groups, as well as if you belong to certain groups; insurance policies etc. Bowling is quite cheap considering the fun that you will have, and the time that it takes up. A single bowling game will usually take around 30 minutes, but this varies greatly depending on how many people you have in each game.

A Bowling Alley will often have a store where you can purchase hot food and drinks, lollies and anything else that you feel like. Like most entertainment places, it can be expensive, but often the food is extremely good. It is always nice to have a snack in between turns. If you haven’t tried bowling before, I can’t recommend it more. I know a huge number of people who enjoy this sport, and many of them don’t have a lot of skills.

If you get really into Bowling, then you can sign up for a membership and competitions. This will enable you to visit the same Bowling Alley multiple times whilst paying for a single yearly cost. Also, if you win competitions you can earn a fairly good income as well as a heap of other non monetary bonuses. It’s vital to ensure that you are having fun in life, so if you haven’t tried something new recently, consider taking up Bowling or Baseball!
