Horse Racing

Racing anything today is something which millions of people enjoy every day. Whether it’s racing a high powered car around a track, or riding a motorcycle through the dunes of Saudi Arabia, racing is a popular hobby and sport. It is done with almost anything, including Horses. Horse Racing is a hugely popular sport for the riders, horses and viewers. There is a lot of money involved in the betting of racing, more so in the horse industry. There are huge events every year where millions of dollars is exchanged between different people in bets that a particular horse will win, lose, combinations of winners and losers and anything else that you can have two different views on.

Basically it is a sport where a horse and a rider (known as a jockey) race around a track or course. There are many different types of racing, which range from courses that have obstacles to just a simple oval shaped race between several horses. This is similar to a normal running race, like a 200 meter, 400 meter or 800 meter. The sport is associated considerably with gambling, because of the huge amount of money which is put on various horses and jockeys winning the races. It is done as a hobby by many, but also as a sport. There is a huge amount of money involved for those who win, because of the age of the sport and the history that it entails. It truly is a great Outdoor Adventure.

A hugely important factor in racing with horses is the type of horse that is used. The horses that are best for racing are bred exactly for that purpose, so that they have quality muscles and are very healthy. They are also treated very well, exercised regularly and fed properly. The jockeys are usually very small people, because they tend to weigh the least and have little wind resistance. You will very rarely see a winning horse with a huge rider on it, but many people enjoy this as a hobby, regardless of your size. Horse riding can be extremely great fun, especially if you have the horse as a pet and enjoy riding and racing.

Some races involve sprinting, whilst others may involve long distance runs, and others require skill to maneuver in and out and over different obstacles. Like other racing sports, Horse Racing can be very dangerous, especially if you fall off. Horses are known to kick if you stand behind them, and a kick can easily kill a human being. It’s important to be confident in riding before you tackle horses designed for racing, because they can be sensitive and extremely powerful. Many people have died or become seriously injured from falling off a horse. They are not toys, and should be treated with the utmost respect. Personally, I prefer Car Racing to Horse Racing, but it’s all an opinion!
