RC Boats
RC Boats run on either fuel or electricity. There is a huge variety of these boats, ranging from full on ships, to submarines, hovercrafts, racing boats, sailing boats and everything in between. There is a lot of competition involving RC Boats, especially in lakes. Likewise, other remote control objects, like cars, planes and helicopters also have races all of the time, with huge competitions and very large prizes for those who win! These boats are designed in many different ways. Some have the motor inside of the boat, and some have the motor outside of the boat. Some are powered by propellers that turn in the water and push the boat forward, whilst others are powered by propellers that turn similar to a plane. There are even those that use jet engines, and push air out of the motor, which propels the boat forward.
These boats are not very heavy, and as such the motor that is used doesn’t have to be overly big or expensive. Even a heavy boat with a small motor can move extremely quickly, and there are some of these boats that will top at 100 miles an hour! Electric boats tend to be less fast than the fuel powered ones, but they are great fun. There are a lot of elderly people who enjoy collecting these boats, especially the replica war ships and other sailing ships. It’s amazing what you can do with these boats; there are tug boats that are smaller than a meter long and yet can pull a full size dingy along in the water! That brings a whole new meaning to the word Boating!
You can set up water pumps to cool the engines and to spray water at people as you drive by, as well as make any other modifications as you want. These boats start off reasonably cheap, but they can become extremely expensive if you get serious into racing and just having a time consuming hobby. The only problem with the boats is that you need to find a place to drive them, which is usually a lake, or you can do it at a smooth beach or river. If there are too many waves, it’s likely you will damage your boat or tip it over. Also, you can’t walk over to pick it up if it breaks, so you need to ensure you look after it! RC Cars are also fragile, and need to be cared for well.
