Sky Diving
Skydiving is another adventure sport which is becoming increasingly popular in many countries of the world. Skydiving basically involves jumping out of a plane attached to another person and a parachute, or just a parachute. When two people go skydiving, it is known as tandem. Skydiving is not for the faint hearted; if you love extreme adventures, or you just want to try something new, the skydiving is probably for you.
In different parts of the world there are laws regarding what you are allowed to do in regards to skydiving. In Australia, your first dive must be done tandem, for safety purposes. Once you have done a few dives you are able to progress, and eventually get a ‘license’ to dive by yourself. Obviously it is safer to go skydiving with another person, because usually it is an instructor who knows what they are doing and has been skydiving hundreds of times before. Also, there are different heights that you can choose to jump from. This is decided by your experience in skydiving, and the amount you want to pay. The higher that you skydive from, the more it costs.
Skydiving is offered by many companies throughout the world, done in different locations. There are some brilliant views to be seen by different sky diving experiences. When choosing where you are going to go skydiving, be aware of how high you want to fall, and how much you want to pay. Skydiving companies should have a good safety record; you are already going to be nervous jumping some 15,000 feet out of a plane, let alone knowing that there have been multiple deaths with the company. An adventure sport is not enjoyable if you are worried about risk.
Ensure that you learn what you need to do, and stick to it. When diving tandem, the instructor will tell you how to fall out of the plane, what to do and when to do it. It’s important to do exactly what he or she says, for safety reasons and for most enjoyment. Many people often don’t do what the instructors say, and they make it difficult for the instructor to control. Sky diving is an amazing experience; you are free falling for up to 5 minutes.
When you begin to fall, you pick up speed until you hit the maximum speed your body will achieve when falling. It then just feels like a lot of wind rushing passed your body, but controlling the parachute in is great fun too. Skydiving has caused a few deaths throughout the past years, but if you pick a quality skydiving company, then you will be fine. The risks are severely minimized through quality shoots and knowledge by your instructor.
Something to bear in mind when choosing to go skydiving is the weather. Most companies will only take you out skydiving if the weather is exactly as they want it. This usually means clear, not too much wind and good visibility. If you are on a holiday, make sure you book the skydiving first, and then you need to ring in on the morning of your sky dive to ensure it is still going ahead. If the weather isn’t good, then it’s likely it will be in the afternoon, or the next day.
If you have ever been on a theme park ride which drops suddenly, you will know the feeling of skydiving. It’s truly amazing and awesome, and something that you won’t forget about any time soon. Skydiving is becoming more and more popular, and more and more safe. It’s something I would highly recommend, but ensure that you do your research first.
