Kart Racing

Kart Racing is a sport which I am absolutely addicted to. Racing around a corner as fast as you can with the rear end of the kart sliding out sideways is a feeling that one can only express as pure joy! Racing in karts is done as a sport, hobby or just a bit of entertainment every once and a while. Many people enjoy going to kart places and giving them a quick drive, having a lot of fun and then leaving. The only problem with Karting is the immense cost of driving them. For a few minutes around the course you can be looking at 10 dollars or more, and it is literally billed by the minute. In saying this, I would highly recommend it to anyone, as it’s probably one of the best ways to have fun. Racing these machines is done outdoors and indoors, and even sometimes both. The ground that the karts are driven on is primarily tar or asphalt, but it can even be gravel if you have bigger and more aggressive karts.

These little vehicles are capable of speeds up to 115 miles per hour, and most don’t have roll cages at all. Combine this together and you get a machine which can accelerate extremely quickly, brake well and corner well. They are very low to the ground, and as a result are able to go around corners at speeds that you would figure impossible. Many of the karts at amusement parks are limited, because of the absolute carnage that would be caused if they could go as fast as the driver wanted to. Many of the karts weigh less than 150 kilograms, which means that they are light and nimble, unlike most other Car Racing.

Most Karts don’t have any suspension, which means that the chassis needs to be slightly flexible, to avoid damage to the rims, tires and motor when shock is caused through rough tracks, rough cornering or hard braking. There are many different classes of Kart Racing, all based on the weight of the vehicle and the size of the engine that the kart houses. Many Kart Races are also set in different classes, such as junior, senior and even classes for those who are very young. Most karts have brakes at the back, but some classes allow for front disk brakes as well.

The tires that are used in Kart Racing are usually soft, slick rubber. This provides exceptional grip on the tar. Karting is a sport which is used to introduce drivers into the concept of motorsports. They are powerful enough to teach a driver the skills needed to control a vehicle at high speed, whilst nimble and safe enough to have a whole lot of fun! Like all Motorsports however, it can be very dangerous if things are not done safely.
