Monster trucks are simply big pickup trucks. Monster trucks are most popular in the US, but can be found in Canada, Australia, Europe and Asia. Monster trucks have extremely large wheels and suspension. They are used for various types of competition. Monster Trucks are renowned for crushing cars. Most Monster trucks tires are larger than the average car, and as a result are able to climb on top of cars and jump without much risk. In saying this, Monster trucks do often tip as a result of being overbalanced.
Monster Trucks are all equipped with Remote Ignition Interuptor (RII), to help prevent an accident if the driver loses control at any time. There have some very nasty accidents involved with Monster Trucks, and even a few deaths. Monster Trucks are equipped with huge engines, allowing the truck to be able to do wheel stands with ease.
Monster Trucks are very expensive pieces of machinery. They are built strong, and tough, but as a result are costly in every aspect. Monster Trucks are often used in mud runs, and because of the extreme power and big, chunky tires they spray mud everywhere and are often very successful.
A modern monster truck is more of a scaled up, four wheel drive dune buggy. Monster trucks now have a custom built tubular chassis, with four link suspension. This helps to provide massive travel, which is needed when climbing up cars and other big objects. Many Monster Trucks are supercharged, and have displacement up to 575 cubic inches. Monster trucks also have hydraulic steering, to help to move the tires when needed.
There are many safety aspects required when riding in a Monster Truck. The drivers are required to wear fire suits, safety harnesses, helmets and head and neck restraints. Most moving parts on Monster Trucks are also shielded and high pressure components have restrained straps in case of an explosion.
Monster trucks have become so popular that there are competitions held throughout the world, and even video games which represent real life monster truck driving. In some countries, you can hire monster trucks out per hour, and drive around a property and up hills. Obviously, the cost is quite high, but it’s a thrill you won’t ever forget.
Monster trucks are a great way to have some extreme adventure fun; it’s not for the faint hearted. If you enjoy 4x4, then you will love Monster trucks.
