Shooting Sports

Shooting sports include paintball, hunting, using bows and crossbows, rifles, machine guns, Clay pigeon shooting and other guns. Shooting sports are done throughout the world, in competitions, day to day use and for fun. Shooting sports are very popular, and there are even events in the Olympics for these. Shooting sports can be done as a living, either professionally in competitions, or for culling of pests. In Australia, foxes and kangaroos are often culled because of the damage they cause to crops and vegetation. In other countries, shooting sports such as bear hunting and deer hunting are very popular. Shooting sports take an immense amount of skill; lining up the target, firing at the right time, and doing it safely are just a few things that are very important.

Not that long ago I enjoyed shooting sports like kangaroo hunting and rabbit hunting. Basically you drive around in the back of a Ute with some rifles, and when you see an animal you get close enough to shoot it. Kangaroo and rabbits are eaten in Australia by some people, but not everyone likes it. Shooting sports are often associated as being dangerous, but the truth is if guns are treated with respect and logic, the danger is minimal.

Shooting sports are also done in the water, known as spearfishing. I recently purchased a new speargun, and I have had amazing fun in the water, shooting fish which are tasty to eat. The best thing about spearfishing is that you chose what you want to catch; if a fish swims by that you don’t like to eat, then you are not obliged to shoot it. When fishing, what bites is what you catch, and if it doesn’t bite then you don’t catch it.

Shooting sports provide great fun for myself, and for many people in various countries. It’s important to treat shooting sports with care, because if they are mistreated, they can be highly dangerous. Ensure you learn what to do safely, and then you will really enjoy your shooting sports.
