Fishing

Fishing is another great adventure sport which many people enjoy throughout the world. Fishing is great because there is a physical reward at the end of each fishing trip (sometimes) and is fun for people of all skill levels. I regularly go fishing, but also recently have taken up going spear fishing; another form of fishing. Fishing can be done in various parts of the world, and is usually divided into two sections – freshwater fishing and salt water fishing.

Salt water fishing is done in the ocean, estuaries, salt lakes and various other places. Generally, the fishing in salt water is better because of a larger diversity of fish. Fresh water fishing is also highly enjoyable, and is done in lakes, rivers and creeks. In some parts of the world, fresh water fishing requires you to have a specific license, so ensure that you check with authorities.

Fishing has various levels, and you can spend a lot of money if you want, but it’s easy to have a great time fishing with only basic and cheap equipment. Fishing can be done by using a rod and reel, or a hand line. These days, most fishing is done with a rod and reel, because it tends to be easier and just as fun. Using a hand line when fishing can result in cuts to the hands if you are catching reasonable sized fish and many of them. You can fish all day with a rod and reel, assuming that you are fairly strong in the arms.

Fishing can be done from a boat, off the beach, off jetties and even off cliffs. This means that fishing is available to anyone who is near water which has fish in it. You don’t need to spend big dollars going out and buying a big fishing boat when you can catch amazing fish off the beach. A four wheel drive is also a good way of making your fishing trip easier and better. You can pull up on the beach, 20 meters from the water with a light for when it gets dark. It’s easy to set up a chair, pull everything out of the back of the car and fish for your hearts delight. Having a four wheel drive also makes it easy to camp the night if you chose to (more fishing for you!), but be aware of whether you are allowed to camp in that area; some places you are not allowed to.

Fishing is a great way to have fun as a family, because with a little teaching, even your young kids can catch a good feed of small fish. Fishing stores can provide you with a lot of valuable information, and often they can also tell you where the fish are biting at the present time. Fishing can be an extreme sport when you start to catch fish that are large, as it can take a long time to catch the fish. Some fish that you catch can take several hours of fighting which is great fun.

Fishing can be frustrating at times, depending on how the fish are in your area. I have been fishing in various spots for hours on end only to come home without a bite. In saying this though, if you do your research, then the fishing will be greatly rewarded. There are many spots within the world that provide great fishing all year round; you just need to take the time to learn where the good fishing spots are. Fishing is a sport which I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone, because it is cheap and great fun.

You can walk into a fishing store, buy a rod and reel for 30 AUD, some bait and hooks for 10 AUD, and then you are set to have a great evening. Sure, the fish you are after might not be huge, but on a small rod it’s still great fun to catch small fish. If you spend about 100 AUD onwards, you have potential to catch some massive fish when fishing. Fishing is good because of the result that you get when you have a good day.

Fishing is good fun because when you get home you can eat the product. Smaller fish can be a pain to fillet, but there are many techniques (such as cooking the fish as a whole) to make better use of the fish. When fishing, you can get used to catching bigger fish, and then you no longer go after smaller fish. Fishing for bigger fish means that when you get home you can have big fillets to enjoy (but you might get unlucky and not have any fish to eat).

After fishing, I really enjoy smoking fish. You can make your own smoker, or buy one for fewer than 50 AUD, and the taste of smoked fish is brilliant. There are many types of sawdust that you can use to smoke the fish, and each has different flavors. It’s amazing that you can spend 10 dollars on bait, and then come home with a fish that would sell for over 50 dollars. Often the bigger the fish that you are after, the less likely you are to catch them. Catching many small fish is often easy, so you can take your pick or chose to do both.

Fishing is done with lures, hooks and sinkers. When fishing with lures, there is usually no need to have a sinker, and the great thing about these is that you don’t need any bait! This means your fishing adventure can be totally free, once you have the items needed. The other way of fishing is with a hook (or more) and a sinker. You can go fishing on the top of the water (with floats) or you can go fishing at the bottom of the water. Each type provides different fish results, but they are both fun to try.

There are various types of fishing. Many people enjoy fly fishing, which is a form of fishing using light weight rods, and a totally different way of casting, winding in and catching fish. Many people use this fishing technique in fresh water, because it tends to work better.

For those of you who have never tried fishing, I would highly recommend it. It’s cheap, fun and great for all types of people to enjoy. At least take the time to go into a fishing store when you next walk passed one.
